We had a return fight booked for 45 days later and a hotel booked for 3 days in Istanbul. We had no clue what we would do after arrival. Our friends and neighbors told Ruth that I was crazy and a lousy husband, that if I loved her I should take her somewhere safe, like maybe Hawaii. The first day in Istanbul we fell in love with Turkey. The people were the friendliest we had met anywhere in the world. There is so much to see and do in Istanbul you cannot stay there too long. If you are on a budget there are good hotels within a short walk to the major sights for under $50, and up to $500 all in the same area. We would highly recommend staying in the Topkapi or Sultanahmet area because that’s where most of the action is. I would recommend the hotel where we stayed but I could not currently find it on the internet. We had a sitting room and two bedrooms for a price of $50 per day and they picked us up and returned us to the airport. Music By Kevin MacLeod
